Credit Repair Organizations Act

• No fees before the service is fully performed — bill after each completed round, never upfront.

Scam red flags — refuse these

• A "new credit identity", CPN, or using an EIN in place of an SSN on consumer applications.
• Promises to remove accurate negative items or to hit a guaranteed score.
• Advice not to contact the credit bureaus directly.
• Filing identity-theft reports for accounts the client actually opened.
